Lomo World Congress comes to the UK!

Routemaster bus, snapped by LoriThe Lomography World Congress 2007 is all packed and ready to come... to London! From 17th to 23rd September, Trafalgar Square will be home to a gigantic Lomowall and the capital will be filled with events for lomographers from all over the world.

"This year's congress not only presents the breathtaking LomoWorldWall, but also comes with a week packed in enthralling Lomographic city exploration and a spree programme designed for the restless curious and gregarious crowd of the world's Lomographers and the like, who are in touch with this world in one way or the other. An exorbitant crew of the world's pick of the bunch Lomographers, a squad of the craziest, most creative, most colourful, most sophisticated and ever so critical individuals from all parts of the world."

Some of the Just Shoot gang will be going along to some/all of the events (especially the big Saturday night party) - hope to see you there!

SEPT UPDATE: The Lomowall is up in Trafalgar square and the locals are looking confused as events kick off and lots of people with strange cameras arrive in London. Keep an eye out for the following Just Shoot members who will be attending... gwane (Mon-Sun), dave_bw (Fri-Sun), Lori (Fri-Sat) and its.a.salford.thing (Sat). If you're new to the site because we met you at the Congress - welcome!

ABSOLUT LOMO invites Just Shoot users to display photos!

ABSOLUT LOMOWe have received an email this week, inviting you guys to submit images to the ABSOLUT LOMO project. You may have already heard about this from the Lomographic Society website, but it is worth mentioning again here as this is the first time ever in ABSOLUT history that people are being encouraged to participate by submitting their own photos in the project. Interestingly, the gallery that submitted images are being added to is both digital and analogue - it's a real room, located in the center of Stockholm, where the photos sent in by photographers from around the world will be printed out and hand-fitted to the wall. Twice an hour, a high-resolution image will be taken inside the gallery, so we will be able to see how the exhibition is evolving day by day.

The brief is straight to the point: "To shoot one or a series of images capturing your vision of ABSOLUT. The pictures are taken with a Lomo camera, and/or according to the rules of Lomography. Don't think, just shoot!". Photographers are welcome to send in photos until 28th February, 2007.

Even if you don't fancy submitting your own images, you can still join in the fun! Once visitors have ventured to the Gallery, they will be able to zoom in on all photographs on the wall and post comments on them. A rating system of the photographs is also available. During December, January and February, the rankings generated by visitors will be displayed on the site. More information can be found in our site forums.
